Other sorting lines

Most other sorting lines are able to sort plastics and paper as well as beverage cartons and packaging metals. This allows for lines to be more flexible. Individual types of waste are sorted by workers at different times in the same sorting cabin or simultaneously at several locations on the premises.

Waste re-sorting takes place in the sorting cabin, where the waste belt passes through. Workers standing along the belt manually select individual types of waste suitable for recycling. They allow the unsuitable pieces to pass through the cabin and end-up in a container as a discard. The lines differ in cabin size in particular, the number of chutes from the sorting cabin (how many waste subtypes they are able to sort) and the quality of the press used to create bales with re-sorted waste.

Other devices that can be found on the sorting lines are belt and chain conveyors, storage boxes, magnetic separators, crushers, ballistic separators, rotary separators or vibrating screens or grates.

There are automatic sorting lines for mixed municipal waste abroad that can re-sort a certain amount of recoverable waste from residual waste. They are technically very complex and operating them is definitely not cheap. It is not yet clear whether they will also be operated in our country.
